It’s just a joke, I won’t be contesting in state polls, says actress Baby Shima

PETALING JAYA: Baby Shima (pic) has clarified that she won’t be standing in the upcoming state polls after all, claiming it was a joke gone wrong.

According to Kosmo!, the popular actress, whose real name is Nor Ashima Ramli, said she did not expect the fanfare she received after she uploaded a video of herself announcing her intention to run in the elections.

“I won’t compete, it’s just a joke. I did not expect to be taken seriously. I am not inclined to join politics nor is it possible for me as that is not my field of interest,” she said, adding that she hoped her video did not cause misunderstanding among the public.

On Tuesday, Baby Shima expressed her interest in running as an independent candidate in the upcoming polls in an Instagram video.

The announcement has since gone viral, sparking various discussions online and being reported by numerous news portals and blogs.
