State polls: Several roads in Ampang to be closed for Nomination Day, say cops

AMPANG: Several routes to two nomination centres here will be closed on Nomination Day for the state elections on Saturday (July 29).

The closures will start from 7am to enable the nomination process for candidates for N19 Bukit Antarabangsa, N20 Lembah Jaya, N21 Pandan Indah and N22 Teratai, to run smoothly.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the roads would be closed until the nomination process has concluded.

"Nomination will be conducted at Dewan Dato Ahmad Razali and traffic diversion and filtering of vehicles will be done at Taman Dagang's traffic light from the direction of Kuala Lumpur," he said in a statement on Thursday (July 27).

Vehicles from Kuala Lumpur heading towards Lembah Jaya will be diverted to Jalan Merbau - Jalan Pinang - Jalan Ampang, ACP Mohd Azam said.

"Vehicles coming from the direction of Lembah Jaya towards Kuala Lumpur will be diverted at Jalan Wawasan - Jalan Merdeka - Jalan Ampang," he said.

ACP Mohd Azam said for routes near Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) hall at Jalan Pandan Ilmu, vehicles from Jalan Pandan Utama towards Jalan Bunga Raya will be diverted at Jalan Pandan Aman - Jalan Mawar - Jalan Bunga Raya.

"The road from Jalan Bunga Raya towards Jalan Pandan Utama will be fully closed, thus those intending to head to Jalan Pandan Utama can use the route of Jalan Bunga Mawar - Jalan Pandan Aman - Jalan Pandan Ilmu," he said.

The road closure and traffic diversion were necessary to ensure the smoothness of the nomination process and safety of all involved, he said.

"Those with inquiries can contact Ampang Jaya police headquarters Traffic hotline at 03-92740112," he said.
