Taman Bayan, Batang Kali folk warned to be on the lookout for armed robber


HULU SELANGOR: Residents of Taman Bayan here have been urged to stay alert following three armed robberies reported in the housing estate on the Batang Kali-Ulu Yam road.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said the incidents occurred on Oct 15 as well as on Friday (July 21) and Tuesday (July 25).

"The victims are men and women aged between 37 and 71," he said in a statement on Thursday (July 27).

From the victims' statements, the lone suspect is believed to be a local man who rides on a motorcycle and is armed with a parang.

His targets were mainly senior citizens, Supt Ahmad Faizal added.

"We have stepped up patrols in the area," he said.

Supt Ahmad Faizal said efforts are ongoing to track down the suspect, who has violated Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.

"People, especially senior citizens, are advised to be careful when using that particular road or other alternative routes," he added.

Earlier, a viral post on Facebook claimed there had been several robberies in the area.
