MELAKA: An array of Dutch traditional foods are set to captivate the taste buds of food lovers visiting the carnival at Pay Fong Middle School here on Saturday (July 29).

The carnival, from 5.30pm to 9.30pm, is one of the series of events conducted to celebrate the school's 110th anniversary.

Known as "The Melaka Dutch Carnival", it also features other exciting activities including a Dutch-themed exhibition, evening market, performances and workshops.

There will also be a Dutch Discovery programme which offers a rich collection of content that is divided into three zones - the Dutch history and culture, Dutch land reclamation engineering and technology as well as Dutch Artist.

The Dutch history and culture segment will cover an introduction to the Melaka and Dutch World Heritage sites, showcasing various interesting aspects of Dutch customs and facts.

The Dutch Artists Zone will introduce ten internationally acclaimed Dutch performers and their works.

The event also features a presentation by Dr Koh Doh Tat, an aesthetics expert, who will share insights on the recent attention-grabbing artist Johannes Vermeer and his artwork.

There will be a bustling evening market with various stalls, offering Dutch traditional foods such as Stroopwafel, Brudel Cake, Applebelgnet and a choice of Dutch Brew drip coffee or unlimited refills of black coffee.

Five traditional Dutch games - Sjoelen, Ezeltje prik, Blikgooien, Spijkerpoepen and Koekhappen - will be arranged for visitors to play with friends and families, fostering interactive moments.

To add to the festive atmosphere, there will also be a list of performances from the school's music clubs including violin and guitar, wind band, diabolo club and choir.
