'Datuk Malik' says gave full cooperation to MACC

PETALING JAYA: Businessman Abdul Malik Dasthigeer, better known as "Datuk Malik", says he has given his full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

In a video posted on his Instagram account Friday (July 28), Malik, who was with his lawyer Datuk David Gurupatham, said he was called in by the graft busters to give details with regard to their investigation.

"I cooperated fully and thoroughly with the MACC. I have also handed over all the information and details they asked for pertaining to the case and will continue to do so if other assistance is needed.

"We shall wait for a good outcome. I believe that justice will prevail. Let's hope for the best," the founder and chairman of the Malik Group of Companies said.

Malik expressed his gratitude to all those who had supported him via social media as well as well-wishers.

He said was humbled by the support given to him.

The businessman and several others were detained in a Multi Agency Task Force (MATF) operation, led by MACC, on Monday.

The raid also led investigators to seize RM38mil in cash, RM60mil worth of gold and several supercars, among others.

MACC chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the case was being investigated under the MACC Act 2009, the Anti-Money Laundering Act, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) 2001 as well as the Income Tax Act 1967 and the Customs Act 1967.
