No ministers involved in scandals since unity govt came to power, says PM

PORT DICKSON: In the eight months in power, there have been no ministers in the unity government Cabinet that have been involved in scandals, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Eight months in government, is there any new scandal?

“The country was damaged not because it was is poor or that it has no resources but from bad governance.

"I have asked MACC and Bank Negara and there have been no cases linked to ministers of the unity government," the Prime Minister said during the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani event here at the Port Dickson district and land office field on Thursday (July 28).

He added that strengthening the economy was crucial to ensure a better future for the next generation.

“If the young want to secure their future, choose an administration that can ensure this,”he said.

Taking aim at his political rivals, the Prime Minister said that PAS is now championing leaders that had bad-mouthed them in the past.

“These are the ones that they support now,” he said.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who also spoke at the event, said that the working relationship between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in the state had existed long before the birth of the unity government.

“It has been fostered long ago even though it was in a different context. We never had big fights because we all respect one another as it is our culture.

“Our politics is peaceful. And credit to Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan... when we took over, the Opposition at the time was also very helpful,” he said.

In a related matter, the Prime Minister, in a ceremony held earlier in Tasik Villa International Resort here, presented "surat watikah" (endorsement letters) to six chosen PKR candidates.

They were given the letters as they had been seen as strong contenders who “possess the necessary qualities to represent the people and uphold the values of PKR."

The recipients included caretaker Negri Sembilan mentri besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and Yew Boon Lye.
