State polls: Independent candidate in Kelantan steals show with celeb support

PASIR MAS: Datuk Seri Suzainal Adnan Sukri, an independent candidate for the Tendong state seat in Kelantan, stole the show on Saturday (July 29) morning when he brought a well-known actor with him.

Suzainal, upon arriving at the Kolej Vokasional Pasir Mas nomination centre here, was greeted with loud cheers and the reason for that became clear seconds later.

Well-known actor and director Fauzi Nawawi was seen accompanying Suzainal along with his supporters, which then led members of the media and the crowds to start taking photos of the filmmaker.

“I am here to support my friend whom I’ve known for over 10 years. I believe in him and his causes because he has leadership qualities.

“He is active in non-governmental organisations (NGO). Throughout the years, I saw his determination and responsibility in carrying out his tasks,” Fauzi told reporters when met here outside the nomination centre.

So far, it appears that the Tendong state will be a three-cornered fight between Suzainal, Rozi Muhammad (Perikatan Nasional - Pas) and Noor Hariri Mohamed Nor (Barisan Nasional - Umno).

Polling day for the state election is on August 12.
