State polls: Three way fights in Kuang, Taman Templer

PETALING JAYA: The Kuang seat will see a three-way fight between incumbent Salleh Amiruddin and two first-time candidates in the upcoming state polls.

Salleh walked into the Selayang Municipal Council’s lobby to file his nomination papers 10 minutes before the gates were closed.

He goes by the name YB Salleh Amiruddin in the ballot paper and hopes the public will continue to support his candidacy.

“The area I am contesting is partly made up of villages and the only developed area is Bandar Tasik Puteri. The infrastructure needs to be improved and the flood issue needs to be addressed," said Salleh.

He added that the toll rates in the area are more expensive than other places and said that they have to be lowered.

Going against him are first time candidates lawyer Datuk Hasnal Rezua Merican from BN and businessman Mohd Rafiq Mohd Abdullah from Bersatu.

Another seat that will see a three-way fight is Taman Templer, which is being fought by Muda, PAS and Amanah.

The PAS candidate is former assemblyman Zaidy Abdul Talib, while Aida Rahman is from Muda and Anfaal Sari is from Amanah.

Meanwhile, the Rawang seat will see a straight fight between incumbent candidate Chua Wei Kiat from PKR and first time candidate R.Rejean from Bersatu-Bersekutu.

R.Rejean 26, is the youngest Indian candidate filed by Bersatu-Bersekutu and is taking the challenge in stride.

Chua won with a 23,860-vote majority in the 14th General Election.
