PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong extended his heartfelt condolences to the family members of the late Tan Sri Wong Mook Leong, a long-time MCA veteran leader.
"As a former MCA central committee member for over three decades, Wong had served under five former MCA presidents," said Dr Wee.
"However he was never a leader who sought after power and position, instead was always happy to train up new blood in the party and show them the ropes in the political world.
"He was a man of principle who never wavered in the face of controversies," said the MCA president on his Facebook on Sunday (July 30).
Dr Wee said Wong, trained as a lawyer, contributed much to nation-building and party affairs as well as societal work with his professional knowledge.
"This earned him the title of being 'the mastermind of the party' and his passing was a great loss.
"On behalf of MCA, I express our deepest gratitude to Wong and his family for the contribution and sacrifices he had made throughout his service to the country, the party and the people," Dr Wee added.
