PETALING JAYA: An NGO leader’s remark that Umno members have allegedly lost confidence in party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is not linked to Datuk Seri Najib Razak, says Nooryana Najib.
She said Najib had conveyed to her in a message that any statement from the former premier would be issued through his official social media account.
"Najib’s stand is only legitimate if it is uploaded on his official social media account through messages to his lawyer," said Nooryana.
Recently, Persatuan Jalinan Perpaduan Negara Malaysia president Syed Muhammad Imran Syed Abdul Aziz claimed that Umno leaders were losing confidence in Ahmad Zahid’s leadership.
Blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, was scheduled to hold a talk show titled "What does Bossku want?" on Sunday (July 30).
"Najib stresses that Syed Imran and Papagomo do not represent him or even his supporters. Syed Imran was also not ordered by Najib to issue any statements on his opinion," said Nooryana.
Nooryana said it has been nearly a year since Najib was imprisoned and it was not fair for anyone to use the former premier’s name.
"Najib has gone through many challenges and only he knows who is a friend and who is an enemy," added Nooryana.
Najib is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence at the Kajang Prison.
