64-year-old man dies in motorcycle accident near Batu Pahat


BATU PAHAT: A 64-year-old man was killed during an accident involving two motorcycles at Jalan Labis-Yong Peng, here.

Batu Pahat acting OCPD Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said that the incident occurred at 9pm on Sunday (July 30) when the victim was heading towards Yong Peng.

"Investigations revealed that the victim, identified as S. Selvarraju, was riding his motorcycle from Labis.

"The victim suddenly changed his riding position from the left to the right side, causing his motorcycle to collide with another rider going in the same direction," he said in a statement here on Monday (July 31).

The victim suffered a serious injury to the head and was pronounced dead at the location, while the other rider was unharmed, he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.

Meanwhile, Yong Peng Fire and Rescue Department station chief Asyraf Nur Mohd Yusoff said that the collision had caused the victim to slide under a parked lorry at the side of the road.

"The body was removed from under the lorry and was handed over to the police for further action," he said, adding that nine personnel were deployed to the scene to help with the rescue operation.
