Cops arrest mum of nine-year-old boy found dead in Taiping house


IPOH: The mother of a nine-year-old boy who was found dead at a house in Taman Panglima Assam Kumbang in Taiping on Sunday (July 30) has been arrested.

Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Razlam Ab Hamid said the 36-year-old woman was arrested along with her boyfriend on the same day.

ACP Razlam said initial investigations into the boy's death found elements of abuse.

"The abuse is believed to have started since March.

"The case is being investigated for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement.

The police had, on July 30 at about 11am, received an emergency call about the victim.

The boy was pronounced dead by medical personnel and the police.

The case was initially classified as sudden death.

ACP Razlam said the victim was the second of five siblings.

"The mother and her husband are in the middle of a divorce and she lives with her boyfriend," he said.
