Melaka passes anti-hopping amendments

MELAKA:The state legislative assembly has approved the Melaka State Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2023 to enable anti-party hopping legislation to be implemented.

The motion for the proposed amendment was supported by 24 out of 28 assemblymen after Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh tabled it during the assembly sitting on Monday (July 31).

Ab Rauf (BN-Tanjung Bidara) told the assembly the Bill was in line with the law at the Federal level and with decisions made by the top leadership.

He said the Bill was also seen as a new dimension in the state's political landscape.
