No monitoring of students during polls

KUALA NERUS: The Higher Education Ministry will not monitor students’ involvement in political activities during the polls in six states nor in the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election.

Its minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said students would be given the freedom to engage in politics but reminded them to understand limitations.

“We give them freedom, however, don’t bring party politics onto campus,“ he told reporters after visiting Universiti Malaysia Terengganu here yesterday, Bernama reported.

On the alleged delay in the payment of financial aid for disabled students, he said the ministry would look into the matter.

“Basically, all disabled students confirmed by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry are eligible. We will fix the delay, I will check,” he said.

Earlier, a statement by a representative of disabled students in educational institutions went viral, alleging delay in receiving the aid.
