State polls: Amanah sacks members who acted without party consent on Nomination Day

PETALING JAYA: Amanah members who acted without permission and presented themselves as state election candidates, proposers and seconders on Nomination Day on Saturday (July 29) have been stripped of their membership.

Their expulsion is with immediate effect, party secretary-general Datuk Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli said in a statement on Monday (July 31).

“Based on clause 6 of the party constitution, their actions warranted this action," he said, without revealing how many members were involved or their identities.

He said Amanah had nominated 31 candidates as part of the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional unity pact.

“The cooperation between Pakatan and Barisan is stronger following the successful smooth and effective seat negotiation.

“As with any cooperation and negotiation, win-win is the priority. However, to achieve this, all parties involved must make some sacrifices to ensure a huge victory,” he added.

Polling in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan will be on Aug 12.
