State polls: Selangor PH-BN candidates gather in Shah Alam ahead of manifesto reveal

SHAH ALAM: All Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional candidates, contesting for the 56 state assembly seats, have assembled in Shah Alam.

The big gathering held at the Dewan Raja Muda Musa here was attended by Selangor PKR chairman Datuk Amirudin Shari as well as his counterparts from the DAP, Amanah and Barisan Nasional.

The purpose of the congregation was to hear Amirudin share plans for Selangor for the next five years if both Pakatan and Barisan receive the people's mandate to form the state government after the polls.

Earlier in the evening, Selangor Amanah chief Izham Hashim said in his speech that the unity and collaboration between Pakatan and Barisan were not only for the betterment of the state but for the benefit of the entire nation.

His DAP counterpart, Gobind Singh said the collaboration, between the two coalitions, was necessary for stability as well as to have a government which respects the people's mandate.

He added under Amirudin's stewardship over the last five years, Selangor had remained strong even when there was strife at the federal level.

"This MB (mentri besar) is an MB who has been tried and tested and trusted to deliver," said Gobind.

Gobind also said the last few days of campaigning had seen Pakatan and Barisan members coming together and campaigning in unison.

Meanwhile, Selangor Umno chief Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin said both the coalition's detractors had claimed it would be tough to initiate collaboration between Pakatan and Barisan at the grassroots level.

However, it was otherwise on the ground the last three days (since campaigning began), where there was not only collaboration but also shared thoughts and opinions among Pakatan and Barisan supporters, he added.

"There wasn't even one seat that both sides had fought for in all six states and this proves unity as well."

"This is also proof that the collaboration between both coalitions is not politically cosmetic or to blinker the people.

"The unity government is for real," said Megat Zulkarnain.

He also called for the politics of hate and slander to be done away with.
