State polls: Stick with the original, reject 'copycat' Perikatan, Amirudin tells Selangor voters

SHAH ALAM: Voters in the state have been urged to stick with the unity pact government and reject Perikatan by caretaker Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in an apparent dig against his opponent.

“I believe our opponents in the elections - Perikatan Nasional - will be going through the details of my speech tonight,” the Selangor Pakatan Harapan chief said while unveiling the Tawaran Kita Selangor: 5 Tekad untuk 5 Tahun (Our offer to Selangor: Five determinations for five years), here on Monday (July 31).

“They will then try to copy what we are doing and make little tweaks to what we have presented because (it is evident) through the reality of their political journey, that they have only copy-pasted what has already been done (previously) in this country,” he added.

“Bersatu have branded themselves as the voice of Umno but they have only copied Umno and Barisan Nasional,” he added.

Calling Bersatu a “Grade C copy” or a poor version of Barisan, the Sungai Tua candidate said Perikatan was not eligible to administer the state given their 18-month track record as the Federal Government.

“Selangorians, (please) choose the original and reject the copycats. The original is the voice and the pledge of the unity pact,” he said.

He also acknowledged that Selangor has achieved development due to the contributions of the former Barisan government before Pakatan took over in 2008.

Amirudin added the Pakatan had continued to spur development in the state in the three terms it has been in power.

Nomination for the six state elections concluded on July 31. Polling will take place on Aug 12.
