Kelantan Perikatan unveils manifesto, water issue among main agenda

TANAH MERAH: Water issues will be one of the main agenda that the PAS-led Kelantan state government has pledged to resolve.

The Kelantan Perikatan Nasional said this during the launch of its state election manifesto, which also included socio-economic and agricultural productivity development on Monday (July 31) night.

Caretaker Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob (pic) said the manifesto themed “Kelantan Maju Rakyat Sejahtera" listed 18 plans and 96 programmes.

“We have completed 98% of our previous manifesto for the 14th General Election and we will bring the remaining forward together with new pledges under the new manifesto.

“We drafted this manifesto in a realistic manner, based on what we are capable of and according to the budget that we have.

“We are calling it a programme instead of a manifesto because we actually plan to make them all happen,” he said during a press conference here after launching the pact’s manifesto.

Kelantan Perikatan also plans on rebranding the Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd and to increase water storage through the Takungan Air Pinggiran Sungai (TAPS) project.

At the same time, the pact also plans on providing first-time pipe installation assistance to the B40 group.

On socioeconomic development, the state government has pledged to develop new towns to increase job opportunities and boost the state’s economy.

Apart from that, the manifesto also includes women development, education, family, youth and environmental development programmes.

The state elections in Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan will be held on Aug 12, with early polling on Aug 8.
