SEREMBAN: Police have received 83 reports related to various election-related matters in the state since nomination day, says Dep Comm Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff.
The Negri Sembilan police chief said the bulk of these reports were related to allegations that candidates had failed to obtain permits to campaign.
"We have only received one report related to vandalism where an individual had claimed that a candidate's poster was damaged in Jempol.
"Apart from the police reports, the past three days have been uneventful and campaigns have been carried out without trouble," he said when met at the state police contingent here.
DCP Ahmad Dzaffir said the police have not received any report related to the 3R or royalty, religion and race.
He reminded candidates and their supporters not to touch on sensitive issues or hate speech related to 3R as the police will be monitoring all news and social media platforms.
"If we come across any such act, we will carry out an investigation.
"Even if no one lodges a report, we will do so,” he said.
DCP Ahmad Dzaffir said the police would not compromise on this as the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had reminded the people to refrain from doing so.
On Sunday, the IGP said a 3R task force will complete investigations on 3R offences within seven days after an investigation paper (IP) is opened.
Ahmad Dzaffir said police will be monitoring the campaigns by being physically present and also view all footage available on social media to ensure action is taken against anyone harping on 3R.
"This will continue till the last day of the campaign period," he said.
He also advised all candidates to strictly abide by the conditions set in their campaign permits.
All campaigns must stop by midnight, failing which they would be contravening the conditions in their permit.
Separately, DCP Ahmad Dzaffir said the assistant to Barisan Nasional's Jeram Padang candidate who was involved in an accident early yesterday (July 31) was still admitted in the red zone at the Kuala Pilah Hospital.
Police, he said, were still investigating the cause of the accident.
The candidate, Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir suffered a broken leg in the crash along Jalan Pasir-Besar around 3am.
His assistant suffered serious injuries and had to be moved from the Jempol Hospital to Kuala Pilah for treatment.
