KLANG: DAP stalwart Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang made an appearance at Taman Eng Ann area here to support the party's candidate for the Bandar Baru Klang state seat, Dr Quah Perng Fei.
He was accompanied by Selangor DAP secretary Wong Sze Han and spent time with party workers and local residents for a cuppa at a kopitiam before going on a walkabout at the nearby market area.
During his speech, Lim addressed the crowd with a megaphone and spoke in Hokkien, much to the delight of the crowd.
"Let's come out and vote on Aug 12, everyone. It's important to have a high voter turnout to ensure a positive electoral outcome in the six states," he said.
Stressing the need for reforms, Lim said Malaysia has fallen behind other countries in the region, such as Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong.
"Let's unite and support the unity government," he said.
Wong, who also addressed the crowd in Hokkien, commended Dr Quah's past performance as a Klang councillor with a good track record.
"Please support our candidate and give him an opportunity to serve. We must maintain the Selangor state government, ensuring a diverse, prosperous, and progressive Selangor," he said.
Wong also explained Pakatan Harapan's cooperation with Barisan Nasional, saying the people will have a clear choice in the state elections.
"Choose Pakatan at state seats that Pakatan is contesting. Otherwise, vote for Barisan candidates instead because we are cooperating," he said.
