Reezal can continue Pak Lah's legacy, Dr Wee tells Bertam constituents

KEPALA BATAS: Datuk Seri Reezal Merican will be able to continue the legacy of former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in the Bertam constituency, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said that Reezal has a proven track record and was an asset to the locals.

"He is a local and fully understand the needs of the people here.

"That is why I also believe that he can continue Pak Lah's legacy," said the Ayer Hitam MP during his speech at Barisan's Pematang Sindok, Kepala Batas operation centre on Wednesday (Aug 2) night.

Dr Wee said Reezal was a former Cabinet colleague and has vast experience.

"He is also known to address the people's grouses swiftly," added Dr Wee.

Reezal, who is also a Umno supreme council member, is in a straight fight against Khaliq Mehtab Mohd Ishaq of Perikatan Nasional for the Bertam seat in Penang.

This will be the first time that Reezal will be contesting in a state seat after failing to defend his Kepala Batas parliamentary seat in the last general election.

The Bertam state seat, which falls under the Kepala Batas parliamentary seat, was previously held by Abdullah and had been a safe seat for Barisan for 50 years.
