Mother of Terengganu's Sultan Mizan passes away


KUALA TERENGGANU: The Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin's mother, Tengku Besar of Terengganu, Fatimah @ Sharifah Nong Alsagoff Abdillah, passed away at 3.17am Thursday (Aug 3) morning.

Comptroller of the Terengganu Royal Household, Datuk Mohd Sophian Abu Bakar, in a statement, said that the remains of Tengku Besar of Terengganu were flown from Kuala Lumpur to Terengganu on a special aircraft at 2pm.

Her remains will then be brought to Istana Al-Muktafi Billah, to enable family and relatives to pay their last respects, before the funeral prayers and burial at Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Mosque Royal Mausoleum in Ladang at 4pm.

Sultan Mizan consented to a five-day mourning period and tahlil sessions to be held for five consecutive nights at Istana Syarqiyyah, starting Thursday night. – Bernama
