Two killed in car-lorry crash near Sibu


SIBU: Two men were killed when their car collided head-on with a trailer lorry near Simpang Sungai Arip on the Sibu-Tatau road on Wednesday (Aug 2).

The victims were identified as Jeffery Belimi, 35, and Maximilon Joseph, 25.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said in its daily update on Thursday (Aug 3) that a distress call came in at 4.05pm on the day of the accident.

Firefighters from the Tatau fire station were immediately despatched to the scene, it added.

"On arrival, they found that the two occupants of the lorry were unhurt.

"The two victims in the car were pronounced dead by paramedics from the Tatau health clinic," the statement added.
