Free health screenings offered under CRSM's GoCare BeWithYou charity campaign

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians were offered free screenings for non-communicable diseases under the BeWithYou GoHealthy awareness campaign.

The one-day campaign was carried out at Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (Aug 3) a collaboration between GoCare Malaysia, National Cancer Society Malaysia and Socso, offering the Health Screening Programme (HSP) 3.0+++ for free health and cancer screening.

The initiative offered checks for non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer.

The initiative was aimed at helping people in the workforce to stay healthy and improve their job performance.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon, who officiated the launch, said the party would continue doing its best to support people in need and increase the ranks of volunteers.

Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) national chief Datuk Natalie Lim Chong Ly said health screening is one of the community programmes it organises to increase awareness of and concern for one's own health.

She added that the involvement in the health screening programme of the National Cancer Society and other partners such as Pathlab will also allow the public to obtain a more thorough health evaluation.

Medical equipment supplier Nano Medic Care Sdn Bhd also provided 1,000 sets of health screening tools for a charity sale in conjunction with the launch, with the proceeds channelled to community care and disaster relief.

Lim said prevention and management of diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer can help employees stay healthy and perform better at work.

She also encouraged more individuals to join the BeWithYou Community Caring Campaign and become partners in providing various types of support to groups in need.

Through three programmes – GoCaring community care service, GoHealthy health awareness, and GoFunding – the campaign included a series of fundraising activities in support of underprivileged groups and to promote a caring society.

Charity bazaars organised by GoFunding through GoCare BeWithYou also included free eye tests and eyeglasses, free spine examinations and food trucks.
