Klang-born Vanessa to compete in Sing! China

MALAYSIAN singer Vanessa Reynauld is said to be contesting in the Chinese reality talent show Sing! China, reported Kwong Wah Yit Poh.

In addition to sharing a photo of herself in Shanghai on Instagram in June, the 23-year-old, who has Chinese-Indian heritage, said she is pursuing music lessons and participating in a filming project in China.

Award-winning composer Helen Yap left a comment on her Instagram post: “Have fun in Shanghai. Good luck in your career. Proud of you.”

The Klang-born Vanessa, who studied Chinese up to Year Six, shot to fame after finishing second in the 2016 Water Cube Cup singing contest.

She beat some 60 young aspirants from 42 other countries in the contest meant for overseas Chinese youths.

It was held to commemorate the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and to promote cultural exchanges between China and young people from other countries.The eighth season of Sing! China premiered on July 28, featuring big names like Wakin Chau, Joker Xue, Wilber Pan and Henry Lau as coaches.
