TASEK GELUGOR: Abdul Mohsein Shariff, the Pakatan Harapan candidate for Telok Ayer Tawar, has unveiled a seven-point manifesto, including providing a People's Tuition Academy and boosting public facilities, should he win the seat.
Abdul Mohsein, who is the son of former deputy minister Datuk Seri Shariff Omar, said his vision for the constituency is to transform it to an attractive destination, liveable and at the same time protecting the environment.
"My mission is to develop Telok Ayer Tawar through green development, education, empowering women, youth and at the same time improving basic facilities as well as to boost the local economy," he said in his speech at Pakatan operations room in Telok Ayer Tawar at Taman Robina here Friday night (Aug 4).
Abdul Mohsein will be in a straight fight against the Perikatan Nasional candidate Azmi Alang in the state seat.
In the seven-point manifesto known as Tawar, he proposed to create a People's Tuition Academy, to improve education for school children.
He also aimed to make the constituency one of the main paddy producers in the northern Penang region.
Abdul Mohsein also pledged to provide intensive empowerment programmes for women, especially single mothers and housewives.
He also proposed to boost the area into an eco-tourism area, which will bring economic spillover effects for the local community, especially at the fishermen's village.
He also outlined the need to have public facilities such as more ATM machines, health clinics and post offices in the area.
To boost the small and medium businesses, he plans to improve basic infrastructure such as stalls at the local night markets.
