SEREMBAN: The Pakatan Harapan government's efficiency in administering Negri Sembilan was proven when over 95% of pledges in its 14th General Election manifesto were implemented, says a political analyst.

Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia's (Usim) Dr Mohd Azmir Mohd Nizah said this showed the seriousness of the state government in prioritising the trust given by the people.

Even though Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun faced challenges during his term as mentri besar such as political uncertainty at the Federal level and the Covid-19 pandemic, the state’s administration continued to run smoothly without any controversy, Mohd Azmir said in a recent interview.

"(Of) the key performance indicators (KPI) of the 2018 manifesto, 95% to 97% have been achieved. If the voters feel that is the best for them, there is no reason for the people to choose (another party) in this state election," he added.

Mohd Azmir said PKR vice-president Aminuddin, who is also incumbent Sikamat assemblyman, ran his administration together with DAP and Amanah in a diplomatic way.

Among the pledges fulfilled were the construction of 27,688 units of affordable housing under the Rumah Harapan Rakyat Negri Sembilan programme, state revenue increased within five years (RM566mil in 2021 and RM522mil last year), investment reaching RM9bil last year, and others, he pointed out.

Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Institution of Malay Rulers Chair fellow Mujibu Abd Muis said Aminuddin had proven his credibility in leading this Adat Perpatih (customary laws) state with high investment achievements and economic initiatives benefitting the people.

He said the people of Negri Sembilan wanted to see the unity government's plans for it to become a developed state come to fruition.

"I too want to see what is next for Negri Sembilan. It is time for the government to focus on the status of a developed state.

"If you look at the economic spillover thanks to rapid development (nearby), the potential to achieve this status is huge," he added. – Bernama
