State polls: S'gor cops probing two instances of vandalising campaign material


SHAH ALAM: Police have opened investigations into two separate cases involving vandalism of campaign materials on Thursday (Aug 3).

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said they also received a total of 75 police reports linked to the state elections here.

"One of the cases being investigated is of a man who allegedly intentionally destroyed a coalition flag at Section U2 Shah Alam.

"The other case occurred at Bandar Botanik with several campaign material including bunting and banners found damaged there," he said in a statement on Friday.

He said the cases were being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage.

"We are also constantly monitoring all campaign ceramah being held here.

"So far a total of 201 campaign activities have been held while 62 ceramah have also been organised with proper permits," he said.

Comm Hussein advised the candidates and party supporters to be mature and to always abide by the law.

He also urged them to avoid touching on the 3R (Race, Religion, Royalty) issues.
