Mohamad Hasan keen to bounce back after flu bout

SEREMBAN: Being housebound for three days now after having come down with influenza hasn’t stopped veteran politician Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan from keeping his fingers on the pulse of goings-on in Rantau.

The Umno deputy president, who is still down with high fever and recuperating at home here, said based on feedback from his campaign team, “all is well” on the ground.

“I cannot go out yet as I still have a high fever. I hope to be back campaigning in two days,” he said over the telephone.

The Defence Minister, whose voice was hoarse and raspy and his speech interrupted by coughing fits and sniffling, hopes to hit the campaign trail on Sunday, saying his focus would be in Negri Sembilan for now.

Mohamad, via a video posted on his Facebook account on Wednesday, apologised to voters and the Barisan party machinery for not being able to participate in the campaign for now.

“I am very sorry because I’m down with influenza,” he had said.

Mohamad is being challenged by Perikatan Nasional’s Rozmal Malakan in a straight fight for the Rantau seat.
