State polls: Come out and vote, outcome not set in stone, says Hannah Yeoh

JELEBU: Everyone must come out to vote in the upcoming state polls, says Hannah Yeoh.

The Youth and Sports Minister urged voters to turn up on Aug 12 as the outcome of the polls must not be taken for granted.

"We cannot take Aug 12 for granted. Come out and vote.

"The days of determining the strength of the candidate through the number of flags and banners are over," she said during her speech at an event together with Barisan's Pertang candidate Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, who is also Negri Sembilan Umno liaison committee chairman, at the Sam Tee temple here on Sunday (Aug 6).

She said that the political battleground had shifted heavily onto social media with campaigning taking place on platforms like TikTok, Youtube and WhatsApp.

Yeoh also told voters that Perikatan Nasional could not be taken for granted even if they could not be seen campaigning on the ground.

"We cannot assume they are not strong as they are moving a lot more on social media," she said, adding that many Perikatan candidates were not going door-to-door to meet voters.

The six states of Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu head to the polls on Aug 12.
