Woman attacks student with book in front of the police

KAJANG: Police have arrested a woman who first damaged a college student’s phone, then hit her with a book – right in the presence of law enforcers.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the sequence of events happened at about 2pm on Thursday.

“We received a police report from the 20-year-old college student who claimed a woman in her 50s had approached her to borrow her mobile phone to make a call.

“She told the woman she was using the device for her studies when the woman grabbed it and threw it on the road, damaging it,” he said in a statement yesterday.

ACP Mohd Zaid said the complainant then asked the woman to take responsibility for damaging her mobile phone and they entered a shop nearby to discuss the matter.

“Policemen arrived at the scene at that time and asked the complainant to lodge a report and told the woman to follow them to a police station for further action.“Suddenly, the woman grabbed a book and hit the complainant’s face with it,” he said.

Both incidents were captured on video by the complainant’s friend and the videos had since gone viral.

ACP Mohd Zaid said police arrested the 51-year-old woman.

“The suspect has been remanded for three days to assist further investigations.

“We are investigating the case for committing mischief and causing damage and voluntarily causing hurt.

“Those with information on the case should contact us immediately,” he said, adding that they could do so by calling Insp Azrul Nizam Zainal Abidin at 016-998 5730.
