Company owners to be charged with fraud in Tawau

KOTA KINABALU: Two company owners will be charged in the Tawau Sessions Court on Wednesday (Aug 9) with fraud to secure a contract for maintenance works worth RM1.1mil.

The two suspects, aged in their 40s, were nabbed at 2pm on Monday (Aug 7) when they came to the Tawau Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office to give their statements.

The duo were allegedly involved in using false documents to commit fraud in order to secure a contract for maintenance works under the 2020 economic stimulus package.

Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrests and said they were being investigated under Section 471 of the Penal Code for fraudulent use of forged documents.

“The suspects have been released under MACC bail and will be charged on Wednesday,” he added.
