Four perish as car catches fire on WCE


IPOH: Four people were burnt to death when a car they were traveling in caught fire on the West Coast Expressway (WCE) near Sitiawan.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon said a fifth victim survived the incident.

She said they received a distress call at 5.11pm about the incident at KM220, on the northbound lane of the highway.

"The five victims, all men working in Lumut, were going back to Ipoh after work when the incident happened about 2km before the Changkat Cermin exit," she said.

She added that the car skidded and crashed before it caught fire.
