I wasn’t asleep for the past seven months, says Anwar

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has hit back at those claiming he was "asleep" for the past seven months since the unity government began.

“I was not asleep for the (past) seven months, we were working”, said Anwar this in response to detractors who criticised his administration.

He said that the government is working towards putting an end to hardcore poverty, adding that he has ordered his ministers to put an end to hardcore poverty within this year.

“What did PAS and Bersatu do when they were in the government for three years besides increasing gambling draws from eight times to 22,” he said at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani Ceramah here on Sunday (Aug 6).

Anwar added that the government increased the price of rubber to RM2.70 a kilo and improved the allocation for police quarters, among other measures.

He then said that while he is open to accepting criticism, his opponents should not throw insults.

“I have heard that Anwar is treacherous, Anwar is an idiot," he said

"I may not be right all the time, (they) can criticise and give views, but don’t insult, Campaign well and there is no need to curse and insult because in the end, we are friends and family too,” added Anwar
