State polls: Over 40,000 cops, spouses to vote during early voting

KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has called on all officers and personnel to fulfil their responsibilities as early voters for the state elections on Tuesday (Aug 8).

He said a total of 47,728 police personnel and officers along with their spouses will cast their votes at 260 voting centres consisting of 377 voting streams.

"There is no excuse for anyone in the police force not to fulfil their obligations as voters.

"Voting is a right bestowed on all of us to fulfil.

"It is a manifestation to the rakyat that the police embrace the democracy process as voters," he said in a video message ahead of early voting.

The IGP said all in the police force and their spouses must be accountable by fulfilling their duties as voters.

"I also take this opportunity to wish all the best to all police personnel and officers who have and will be on duty throughout the elections.

"To police personnel and officers deployed (for the elections), conduct your duties with utmost dedication and maintain a high level of professionalism. Control your emotions when facing any form of provocation," he said.

The country's top cop also reminded all personnel to give it their all when conducting their duties with high integrity, sincerity and patience.

"I also pray that all personnel and officers are not plagued with any untoward incident," he said.
