Two Thai teens nabbed in Gopeng for illegally seeking donations

IPOH: Police have arrested two 17-year-old Thai boys who were seeking donations without permission in front of a bank in Gopeng.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the arrests were made on Sunday (Aug 6) at about 4.30pm.

He said one of the suspects had an expired social visit pass.

"During interrogations, we found out that the two suspects entered Malaysia using a social visit pass and were volunteers of a welfare organisation known as Raudhah Malaysia with a mailing address in Ipoh Garden here.

"The suspects misused a support letter signed by the Perak police chief, which was placed on a container used to collect donations.

"Both suspects were arrested under Section 3(3) of the House to House and Street Collections Act 1947 and Section 55 B of the Immigration Act 1959/1963," he said.

Comm Mohd Yusri advised the public not to misuse any official permission granted.

He said those who have information on such activities should contact the nearest police station.
