SEREMBAN: Malay support for Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in Negri Sembilan has been on the uptrend since April, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
Contrary to claims by Perikatan Nasional that it was getting more support from the Malay voters, the state Pakatan chief said a recent survey showed that it was the Pakatan-Barisan pact which was the one preferred by most Malays.
"Compared to a survey done in April, Malay support for Barisan and Pakatan has been increasing.
Findings up until two days ago showed that more than half the Malay voters are with the unity government,” he said.
"This is a good indication and we will continue to explain to them what our plans are for the state," added Aminuddin when met at the Sikamat police station early polling centre.
Some 56.2% of the voters in the state are made up of Malays.
The state PKR chief was also asked which of the six seats the party was defending in the state needed more focus with four days more of campaigning.
To this, the caretaker Mentri Besar said the party machinery and its allies were going all out to woo voters in all six, including in Sikamat, which he is vying for a fourth term.
"We have been working hard and will continue to do so till the last day of campaigning because we want to make sure we will win.
"We have also been explaining the provisions in our joint manifesto so that the voters will know that we are committed to looking after them and the state," he said.
Asked if he was confident that the country's security personnel who voted in the early voting will vote for the pact, Aminuddin expressed hope they would based on the pledges made in their manifesto.
"I am confident they will and we also need to continue to send the correct information and right message across on what we can do for all voters. Our confidence is based on what we can do for them in the next five years," he added.
