SHAH ALAM: The Home Ministry will look into how it can cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its probe of a project involving the son-in-law of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the process of placing a subject on any wanted list remains the same for all individuals.
"What more if some of these subjects are abroad. That is when the Home Ministry is asked to cooperate.
"The relevant agency will notify us and we will look into what cooperation is needed," he said after attending a Human Capital and Personality Development Seminar here on Wednesday (Aug 9).
He said in high-profile cases there are instances where a travel restriction order is obtained as well.
Saifuddin was commenting on questions about the MACC investigations into Muhyiddin's son-in-law Adlan Berhan and another individual, who are abroad.
Also present during the seminar was the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and his deputy Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
On Monday (Aug 7), MACC urged Adlan and lawyer Mansoor Saat to come forward to assist in the probe of a government project involving the registration, recruitment and storage of foreign workers' biometric data.
Based on MACC’s checks with the Immigration Department, the two individuals left the country on May 17 and 21, respectively, and there are no records of their return.
MACC also said various efforts had been made to contact the duo, as well as their respective lawyers, but they had failed to present themselves at the MACC office.
