Lorry driver charged with father's murder in PD


The accused being taken to be charged at the Magistrate's Court in Port Dickson.

PORT DICKSON: A 26-year-old lorry driver has been charged at the Magistrate's Court here for allegedly murdering his father.

No plea was recorded from P.Niruben after the charge was read to him before magistrate V.Vanita on Wednesday (Aug 9).

He was charged with murdering 49-year-old K.Paramasivan at a house in Taman D'Ambang Kota in Lukut between 12.20am and 1.10am on Saturday (Aug 5).

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty or a jail term of between 30 years and 40 years and no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.

The accused was not offered bail and ordered to be sent to the Temiang prison.

Vanita then fixed Sept 12 for next mention.

Nadia Ezzari Mohd Zainal prosecuted.

Earlier, police said the victim died after being allegedly assaulted by his son.

The son allegedly attacked the father, believed to have been intoxicated, for being noisy and uttering profanities.
