PETALING JAYA: Poitical parties on both sides say they are committed to ensuring safe and clean election campaigns in Selangor, with only days left to polling day on Saturday.
Selangor Perikatan Nasional election machinery director Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanafi said the focus for all component parties in the coalition would be to woo voters.
“The Perikatan election machinery has intensified its work... and focusing its campaigning especially in Malay-dominated areas, while paying attention to non-Malay voters.
“We are focusing our campaign on three segments: youth, the Malays, and people who are not satisfied with the current government and its unfulfilled manifesto,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Dr Zulkafperi said Perikatan’s campaign will focus on what its manifesto offers Selangor residents.

“Based on Perikatan’s observation of the elections so far, it is estimated that about 90% of Selangor voters will turn up and cast their ballots on Saturday.
“We are promising them that if Perikatan wins, Selangor residents will benefit from our manifesto the next day,” he said.
As for Pakatan Harapan, its Permatang candidate Mohd Yahya Mat Shaari said the coalition machinery will ensure campaigning remains courteous in the state.
Yahya, who is the former Selangor election director, said Permatang will be getting more assistance from the Sabah and Johor election machinery.
“It is normal to have help from the machinery of other states as we get closer to polling day, and supporters are constantly reminded to follow our guidelines when campaigning.
“As the candidate, I also need to set an example to our supporters so we can show our professional working ethics to voters. I have to show them I am disciplined and concerned with the welfare of the people,” he said.
Yahya added that his campaign is focusing on fence-sitters in the area, as he will be facing Perikatan’s Nurul Syazwani Noh Omar.
Perikatan Sungai Tua candidate Muhammad Hanif Jamaluddin is ready to face incumbent Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, but reminded his machinery to continue promoting the coalition’s manifesto when campaigning.
“As an outsider from Sijangkang, I have received tremendous support from the PAS and Bersatu machinery to campaign for me to get the support of the 50,000 voters here.
“But I also reminded them, especially those from PAS, to continue practising mature politics up to polling day because we have a good manifesto to offer and fulfil for the people in Selangor,” he said.
Hanif will be in a three-cornered fight against Amirudin and Independent candidate Suman Gopal.
