State polls: 'Compasses' of MPs will shift if Perikatan grows stronger, claims Rais Yatim

JELEBU: The "compasses" of MPs will shift if support for Perikatan Nasional grows stronger during the coming state polls, claims Tan Sri Rais Yatim.

“It is like that. If the composition, victory and state administrations go to Perikatan, for example, like it or not, the ‘compasses’ of all MPs will shift.

“This is because their opportunities, position and rights also change,” the Jelebu Bersatu division chief told reporters after attending a ceramah here on Wednesday (Aug 9).

Rais was asked to comment on PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang's recent claim that there would be a change in the federal government if Perikatan won all six states in the coming state polls.

To this, Rais said Abdul Hadi’s narrative was logical but noted that there were limits.

“For example, there are several allocations under the Constitution, such as consolidated funds that are still under the Federal Government,” he said.

Rais added that the Federal Government also had to listen to the pleas from all state governments on how the funds were spent.

The six states of Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will hold their state polls on Aug 12.
