State polls: No detention of tourist from China, says EC

KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission (EC) has denied claims that one of the 1.2 million tourists from China, whose name disappeared from the computers of the Immigration and the Customs Departments, and who wanted to vote for the state elections was arrested.

In a statement issued through the Communications and Digital Ministry, the EC said the claims, which had gone viral, are false.

It advised the public not to be easily deceived and not to spread any unverified information, adding that they should refer to official sources to get authentic and up-to-date information. - Bernama
