Surprise birthday celebration for Anwar in Putrajaya

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took a break from campaigning ahead of polling day to celebrate his 76th birthday at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Putrajaya.

The Prime Minister tweeted several pictures with PMO staff greeting him followed by doa recitation on Thursday (Aug 10).

“Thank you for all the prayers and wishes for me today.

“Appreciation also goes to the Prime Minister's Office staff who made a potluck for me. Thank you once again,” he said.

Anwar’s wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, also shared videos of his surprise birthday celebration.

“Another year has passed, may Allah grant us to be filled with mawaddah rahmah sakinah in faith and piety,” she tweeted.

Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad shared a rare old picture with Anwar as he wished him "Happy Birthday".

“Happy Birthday @anwaribrahim. This photo was taken in 2005. I was a scholarship student in London, forever getting into trouble with my sponsors for ‘anti-establishment’ activities. It was worth it,” he tweeted.
