Pasir Gudang firemen battling Tanjung Langsat landfill blaze

PASIR GUDANG: Firemen are battling a major fire at the Tanjung Langsat landfill area here.

Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue station operation commander Mohd Yusri Atan said nine firemen with one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and a utility vehicle had been deployed to the scene since 12.46pm on Friday (Aug 11).

"When we arrived at the scene, we found the Tanjung Langsat landfill site on fire, which is within a 5.2ha land area.

"The burnt area is estimated to be about 2.83ha," he said, adding that they were using 700 feet of fire hose from a nearby fire hydrant to douse the blaze.

Mohd Yusri also said they were being assisted by 14 personnel from the Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG) in the ongoing operation.
