BALIK PULAU: The Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional pact will do well in the six state elections, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister said he is optimistic based on feedback.
"In many of our states, we are doing extremely well.
"I’m very optimistic," he said when responding to a question posed by the press on there being only 24% of Malay support for him and the government.
Anwar said he did not agree, adding it was a flawed analysis.
"They probably took Kelantan and compared it with Selangor," he said during his visit to Masjid Qaryah Kampung Perlis, Pulau Betong in Balik Pulau on Friday (Aug 11).
It was reported that a survey suggested that only one in four Malays in the six states were satisfied with Anwar's performance as prime minister.
This was based on a survey of 2,416 respondents in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Negri Sembilan, Selangor and Penang conducted by Ilham Centre in July this year.
The respondents were chosen through random stratified sampling.
Only 24% of Malay respondents said they were satisfied with Anwar, while the approval rating among the Chinese (88%) and Indians (81%) was overwhelmingly positive.
Earlier, during a lunch with locals in Balik Pulau, Anwar said Malaysia will become a great nation in Asia if the unity government continues to govern the country for another five years,
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said this confidence was based on the unity government’s track record of championing issues for various segments of Malaysian society since taking over the country’s administration eight months ago.
"Be it an issue involving padi (subsidy), rubber (smallholders), military houses, civil servant salaries, (survival of) fishermen, we are trying to maximise improvement within these eight months.
"Imagine, if we continue to govern for another five years, we will become a great nation in Asia," he said.
