ALOR SETAR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated that the Federal Government’s policies and the country’s political stability have attracted confidence among investors.
The Prime Minister said this has been proven when global semiconductor company Infineon Technologies AG had agreed to invest RM25bil over the next five years in Kulim, Kedah.
"I have told them, that the policies by the unity government will remain and there will not be any change as it has been accepted by the Cabinet and all parties in the unity pact," he said during his second stop at the Jelajah Perpaduan Madani campaign at Hutan Kampung here on Friday (Aug 11) night.
He said before signing the RM25bil investment deal, Infineon Technologies had raised questions whether the Madani Economy policies can withstand for the next five years.
Anwar said he informed that there would be no problem for the company to invest as the unity pact will remain in power in Putrajaya.
Anwar said he managed to convince the international company that the unity pact has the majority support in Parliament.
He slammed caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for telling the people in Kedah that the investment was already agreed two years ago.
On Aug 3, Infineon Technologies announced the expansion of its Kulim facility to build the world’s largest silicon carbide power (SiC) fabrication plant, with an additional investment of up to five billion euros over the next five years.
According to the company, the investment will lead to an annual revenue potential of about seven billion euros by the end of the decade, together with the planned SiC conversion in Villach, Austria and Kulim, Kedah.
