State polls: Pakatan's Amirudin claims victory in Sungai Tua


GOMBAK: Caretaker Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (PH-PKR) has retained the Sungai Tua seat for a fourth time.

He polled 19,678 votes in unofficial results in the state polls.

Amirudin, who is also Selangor caretaker Mentri Besar, trounced his closest challenger Hanif Jamaluddin (PN-PAS), with over 5,185-vote majority.

Independent candidate Suman Gopal only secured 430 votes.

The result was relayed to the media at Kompleks Islam Daerah Gombak, Selayang on Saturday (Aug 12).

It was based on 86 streams at 14 voting centres.

In a statement on Twitter, Amirudin thanked his supporters and pledged to continue his service to the people.

"I express a million thanks to Sungai Tua voters. I will give my full commitment to my service," he wrote.

Amirudin, 44, who is also Selangor Pakatan chairman, has held the seat since the 12th General Election (GE12).
