PETALING JAYA: PAS has already identified the candidates to replace outgoing Kelantan mentri besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob and his deputy Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, says party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
He said Ahmad had asked to step down a few times for health reasons, and Mohd Amar had also been deputy for a while now.
However, he added, the changes would only be in effect if PAS wins the people's mandate in the state election Saturday (Aug 12) and the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, approves of the choice.
“We want to bring change and a new spirit to Kelantan, therefore we will also change the deputy.
“We are not making this change because there are issues with them, but because they have been in those positions for too long and they would be tired by now,” he told the media at SK Rusila in Marang, Terengganu after voting there.
He also urged voters to come out and cast their ballots as the turnout was low in the morning.
“We expect our win to be bigger than what we achieved during GE15.
“I ask voters to perform their duty as your vote is our trust to lead this country.
"Do not look lightly upon your right to vote as it is your duty as a citizen and especially as a Muslim,” he added.
