KLANG: Perikatan Nasional’s Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari retains Selangor’s Selat Klang state seat with a majority of 8,325 votes.

The Selangor Bersatu chief was announced as the winner with 25,143 votes, securing a clear lead against Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Mohd Roslee Abd Hamid and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Datuk Ezam Mohd Nor.

Mohd Roslee and Ezam garnered 16,818 votes and 742 votes respectively.

Returning officer Shahman Jalaludin made the announcement at 10.20pm.

After he was officially declared the winner, Abdul Rashid said the allocation provided to all state assembly members in Selangor should be uniform.

“I hope the Selangor Mentri Besar will not look at party differences, but instead prioritise the welfare of the people,” he said

This will be Abdul Rashid’s second term as the Selat Klang assemblyman.
