State polls: Perikatan takes Kelantan, Terengganu


PUTRAJAYA: Kelantan and Terengganu remain in the fold of Perikatan Nasional, with PAS winning over half of the seats contested in both states.

Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said PAS had won 17 out of the 32 seats in Terengganu and 23 out of the 45 seats in Kelantan, thus obtaining a majority of over 50% for both states.

"Based on the total number of votes as of 9.45pm on Aug 12, 2023, PAS has won 17 out of the 32 seats and has succeeded in obtaining a majority of over 50% out of the overall number of seats contested," he said in a press conference at the EC headquarters in Putrajaya on Saturday (Aug 12).

As for Kelantan, Abdul Ghani said that as of 9.56pm on Saturday (Aug 12), based on the total number of votes, PAS had won 23 out of the 45 seats allotted and thus has succeeded in obtaining a majority of more than half out of the overall number of seats contested.

Contestants from Perikatan Nasional are contesting under the PAS banner in the two states.
